Get There With Your Bike

Make last mile connections, or getting around campus a little easier by having your bike with you. Make a day trip to Brunswick and explore the Androscoggin River Bike Path. Consider an adventure to Freeport and explore miles of fields and farms, coastline and historic sites as you make your way to Wolfe’s Neck.

Let us show you how easy it is to travel on the Amtrak Downeaster with your bike.

Make a Reservation

All Downeaster trains allow up to 4 bikes and reservations must be made prior to boarding. A small fee will apply depending on your itinerary.

$3 for travel within the state of Maine
$8 for travel to stations outside of Maine

Get Ready to Load Your Bike

Luggage racks that convert to bike racks make it easy to roll standard full-sized bikes on board from any Downeaster station, then secure and store them on the train.

Before you travel with your bike. Review all requirements and permitted bicycle specs on Amtrak’s website here. Please note: The front wheel MUST come off for proper storage on the Amtrak Downeaster.

We’ve made the process simple and stress free so you can leave the worrying at home. Check out the how-to video produced by Brunswick Bike & Pedestrian Committee to see for yourself!

Plan Ahead

With limited space we suggest passengers make reservations as soon as they can. You must have an advance reservation when traveling with your bike. Bikes do not fit down the aisle. You will need to remove the wheel and secure the bike before you make your way to your seat.
